How the TabLock Chrome extension handles information.

Last updated October 26, 2026 · Covers Chrome extension version 1.1.0

What TabLock does

TabLock helps prevent pop-ups and redirects in a tab you choose. It needs access to ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages so it can detect and respond to navigation attempts when you lock a tab. Chrome displays these permissions when you install the extension.

Information used and stored

TabLock reads the current tab’s title and URL so it can display the selected page and keep it anchored. While a tab is locked, it processes navigation and pop-up attempts to provide the protection you chose.

Its per-tab state includes the locked URL, the lock and Strict mode settings, a blocked-attempt count, and the time the lock was enabled. In desktop Chrome, this is kept in the browser’s session storage on your device and is cleared when the browser session ends.

Collection and sharing

This version of TabLock has no account, analytics, advertising SDK, or TabLock-operated server. It does not send your tab information or blocked-attempt counts to us or sell or share that information with third parties. The extension communicates between its own browser components to perform its functions.

Website

This page does not include analytics or advertising trackers. Your browser and hosting provider may process standard connection information to deliver the page. If you choose to donate, the donation link takes you to PayPal, which handles the information you provide under its own privacy policy.

Your choices

You can unlock a tab at any time from the extension, or remove TabLock using Chrome’s extension settings. Browser-managed extension session data is cleared when the browser session ends.
